Previously on The Secret Circle[edit | edit source]
Amelia slips and falls on the floor.
Amelia: (gasping) Cassie.
Amelia's House explodes.
Diana: I'm sorry about your mom.
Cassie: Thanks.
Adam: Have you seen her yet?
Nick: She got in yesterday.
Diana is leading Cassie to The Abandoned House.
Diana: It's okay, Cassie.
Diana: We're different. You're different.
Faye: You're a witch. You're a full blooded, 100% witch.
Cassie: There's no such thing as witches and magic. Are you doing this?
Adam: We are.
Faye: With her here, we have real power now.
Diana: Each family has a book. A journal that lays down each family line.
Adam: A complete circle is 6.
Diana: You complete the circle.
Melissa: Now we're whole.
Cassie: You are seriously messed up.
Dawn: She's got the gift.
Charles: Are you sure you can get Cassie to do what we need?
Dawn: The circle will take care of that without even knowing it.
Jane Blake's House[edit | edit source]
Amelia: (voiceover) My sweet Cassie, I didn't want you to have this life, but destiny's not easy to run from. You have incredible power inside of you. People will come for it. They will come for you. I hoped that keeping this secret would keep you safe, but all I've done is left you unprotected. I know how alone you must feel, but be careful who you trust, even people who call themselves friends. Your power is the only thing that can keep you safe.
Cassie stops reading her book of shadows and gets out of her bed. She gets in front of a candle and focuses on it.
Cassie: (sighs) Give me light. Okay. Give me light.
Cassie closes her eyes and opens them regaining focus on the candle.
Cassie: Give me light.
Instead of the candle producing light the window behind her lights up brightly letting light into her bedroom. Cassie looks surprised and turns around to face the window. She looks at the window which is now shining bright with light. She smiles.
Nick's bedroom[edit | edit source]
Nick: You got to go.
Nick and Melissa get out of bed.
Nick: Come on, my aunt's a Jesus freak.
Melissa: Fine.
Nick: Did things work out with Cassie and you girls?
Melissa: Us girls? You're a part of this, too. No. We think Faye's monsoon scared the crap out of her.
Nick: So are we binding the circle or not?
Melissa: I guess not. I mean, Faye says it's a bad idea anyway.
Nick: Do you always listen to Faye?
Melissa: No. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. And, you know what, can you keep this quiet, okay? I don't want anyone knowing we hooked up, so don't go bragging.
Nick: I'm gonna brag about you?
Melissa stops in disbelief.
Melissa: You're an ass.
Melissa walks out. Nick looks at Cassie through the window and Cassie looks back.
Cassie: (sighs) Please.
Cassie waves and smiles in a fake way.
Cassie: (mumbling) Do you own a shirt?
Cassie tries to close the curtains with an incantation.
Cassie: Okay curtains, you can close now. Close now!
As soon as Cassie says that Nick's window shatters and falls into pieces. Cassie is shocked and seems scared by what she has done. She quickly exits her bedroom.
Jane: Hey, want some breakfast?
Cassie: No, I'm late.
Jane: Everything okay?
Cassie: Uh, yeah, I'm fine. I'm just frazzled.
Jane: Cassie, I know this isn't easy. Losing your mother, moving away from home. But I'm here. If you want to talk about anything.
Cassie: I really am late.
Cassie exits the front door.
The Boathouse[edit | edit source]
Ethan: What's the racket outside?
Adam: Sea fair. It's this weekend. They're setting up.
Ethan: We're out of steel head and mussels.
Adam: No we're not. I already called them in. So, what's going on between you and Diana's dad? Hmm? You two almost went to blows.
Ethan: Charles Meade's a punk. He's always been a punk.
Adam: Well, that punk is also a lawyer on the town council, dad. So it's probably not the best idea to piss him off. And he's Diana's father. So, please just try and make an effort, okay?
Dawn's House[edit | edit source]
Dawn: Faye, we're late.
Faye: You don't have to shout.
Dawn: Is that what you're wearing?
Faye: Do you love it? It's new.
Dawn: Exactly how I don't want you to dress.
Faye: You could stand to lose a button.
Dawn: I'm the principal. I have to be buttoned.
Faye: Well, then live vicariously through me.
Faye opens the front door and her granddad is outside.
Faye: Granddaddy!
Henry: (chuckles) Hey, there, kitten.
Faye: What are you doing here?
Henry: It's lonely up at the lake all by myself. Dawn.
Dawn: Henry.
Faye: How long you staying?
Henry: Not sure yet. I have some business to take care of.
Dawn: You're retired.
Henry: And I wanted to see my granddaughter and daughter in law.
Faye: Well, I'm happy to see you. So long.
Faye exits the front door.
Dawn: Is everything okay?
Henry: If it's not, I'll let you know.
Dawn: Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you'd like
Henry: That's gracious of you, being it's my home.
Chance Harbor High School[edit | edit source]
Cassie is walking quickly down the school hall.
Sally: Hi, there. I'm Sally Matthews, class president.
Cassie: Oh, hi. Cassie.
Sally: The new girl. I just wanted to welcome you. And see if you needed anything. Anything--social, extracurricular, I'm your girl. And if you're not doing anything tomorrow, you should come to the fair. I'm in charge of the school raffle, and we really need new band uniforms. I could totally use some help. It's a great way to meet people.
Cassie: Okay, sure.
Faye: She's been here for 5 minutes, don't torture the girl yet.
Sally: We're talking, Faye.
Faye: And I'm interrupting, Sally. That's Sally Matthews talks more than I can listen. Look, I want to apologize. For what happened on the dock with the storm. Things got a little out of hand. I wanted to thank you for stopping it. With you here, our powers are magnified, and it's awesome, but we have to practice a little. Has Diana gotten to you yet about binding the circle?
Cassie: Not yet.
Faye: Just say no. It is exactly what we don't want to do.
Cassie: Why not?
Faye: It links us together, all 6 of us. We won't have individual power. It'll become a factious circle with control freak Diana as dictator, and I don't want someone telling me what to eat for lunch, much less what parade I can rain on, you know.
Cassie: No, I don't. I don't know you, I don't want to know you, and I don't want any part of this, so you need to leave me alone. Understand?
Cassie walks away from Faye.
Dawn is talking with Charles over the phone.
Charles: Charles Mead.
Dawn: Why is Henry in town?
Charles: I don't know. He's your father in law, not mine.
Dawn: Could he be on to us?
Charles: I doubt that. We were very careful. We covered our tracks.
Dawn: I don't like him here. I don't trust him at all.
Charles: You just don't like him.
Dawn: Cause he doesn't like me. He blames me for Tom's death, like it was my fault.
Charles: We all have to blame someone.
Dawn: Keep your eyes open.
Chemistry Classroom[edit | edit source]
Chemistry Teacher: So I have two big rules in my classroom. Rule number one-- do not breathe in the vapors of these chemicals. Rule number two-- always wear goggles.
Cassie sits down at a desk by herself.
Chemistry Teacher: Okay, let's get it started. Got a big day today. First and foremost, safety goggles on, please. Afterwards, I want you to pour 300 milliliters of solution "A," and two drops of solution "B" into your beakers, please. Now, take in mind that many of these carbonates are very toxic, which, for those of you who don't know, that means dangerous. Now, remember that the point of this experiment is to compare the reactivity of these different metal carbonates....
Faye: (focusing on beaker) Fire without flame bring me heat.
Melissa: What are you doing?
Faye: Experimenting. Try it. Fire without flame....
Melissa: Bring me heat.
Faye: Fire without flame
Melissa: Bring me heat.
Faye and Melissa's beaker start boiling. Faye looks over at Cassie's beaker and boils her without using an incantation. Cassie looks at her beaker confused. She looks under the table and then looks at Faye. Faye smiles and Melissa shrugs. Cassie looks back at her beaker and the beaker explodes into glass shards and the solution explodes with it.
Chemistry Teacher: Is anybody hurt?
Cassie is mad at Faye and ends up accidentally setting Faye and Melissa's beaker on fire. Shortly after their beaker explodes as well. The chemistry teacher walks up to Faye and Melissa.
Chemistry Teacher: Hey, are you guys alright?
Cassie quickly runs out of the classroom. Adam gets up and runs out too.
Chance Harbor High School Hallway[edit | edit source]
Adam: Cassie. Cassie, wait a minute.
Cassie: I did that. I got mad and that's what happened. I didn't mean to. Why is this happening? How do I stop it?
Adam: That's the thing, you can't. But if you let me, I can help.
The Abandoned House[edit | edit source]
Cassie: Why do you guys come here?
Adam: Because no one else does.
Cassie: Condemned buildings are like that.
Adam: Well, it's important that no one find out about us. Especially our families.
Cassie: How did you discover--
Adam: We're witches? Diana found her mom's book of shadows. That's how we know about all of us.
Cassie: She's the only one with a book?
Adam: Technically, each family has a book, but hers is the only one we have access to.
Cassie: Why?
Adam: Because witchcraft is forbidden. It was abolished.
Cassie: Because of what happened years ago.
Adam: It's when my mom died. And Diana's mom. Faye's dad. Melissa's mom. Nick lost both his parents.
Cassie: And my dad.
Adam nods. Cassie then sighs.
Cassie: I don't know much about it. Just that there was some big accident.
Adam: Well, the official story was some teens were partying on an old boat and there was a fire. Some didn't get out.
Cassie: A fire.
Adam: Diana thinks it's because they didn't bind the circle.
Cassie: I don't understand.
Adam: Every witch is born into a circle. Ours is made up of our 6 families. The circle has more power than any one person can handle. Binding it is the only way we can utilize the power, but keep it controlled.
Cassie: Faye says that it will link us together.
Adam: Yes. It will limit our individual abilities, but strengthen us as a group. That way no one can have too much power.
Cassie: (sighs) It's like living in a Harry Potter movie.
Adam: He has a wand. It is not all bad. Just let me show you.
The Boathouse[edit | edit source]
Ethan: He used a signa spell. I nearly drown of the floor of my own bar.
Henry: You were drunk. I could tell when you called me last night.
Ethan: I'd been drinking. I wasn't drunk. He used magic. He tried to threaten me, Henry.
Henry: It's impossible. Everyone in your circle was stripped of their power.
Ethan: I know. Believe me, I know. But he's figured out a way around that.
Henry: Why would he be threatening you?
Ethan: I was talking to Cassie Blake about her mother. He was worried I would say something stupid.
Henry: Did you?
Ethan: No. Of course not.
Outside Chance Harbor High School[edit | edit source]
Diana: Hey.
Melissa: Diana, what happened?
Diana: Adam took the blame. He said he mixed the chemicals and miscalculated the chloride.
Faye: And Mr. Herman believed him?
Diana: He couldn't explain it any better. Faye, we got lucky no one was hurt. Now, when are you gonna get it through your head, we have to bind the circle.
Faye: Have fun.
Diana: Can't you talk to her?
Melissa: Maybe we should bind it. I don't like all this stray energy floating around.
Faye: No. Not if it means we'll be linked. I don't want you to have a say in what I do. I don't want you to control me.
Diana: But we'll have more strength as a group and can use it better.
Faye: For what, world peace? Are we gonna save the turtles? Why can't we just enjoy it.
Diana: Because it's selfish and dangerous.
Faye: Yes, and I'm good with that. In fact, I'm great with it.
Faye walks away. Melissa catches up to Faye.
The Abandoned House[edit | edit source]
Cassie: Okay, what's this?
Adam: Some spells in Diana's book requires certain herbs and roots. We've been experimenting.
Adam is looking at a bunch of lights. He unplugs their cord.
Cassie: Are you crazy?
Adam: It's grounded. I'm holding it right now.
Cassie scoffs.
Adam: Trust me.
Cassie takes the cord. Adam grabs a light bulb.
Adam: Take my hand.
Cassie grabs Adam's hand and the light bulb lights up.
Adam: Energy is flowing from the battery, through you, to me, to this.
Adam lets go of Cassie's hand and the bulb dims down.
Adam: Try it by yourself.
Cassie takes the light bulb from Adam.
Adam: Just concentrate on the energy.
Cassie takes a deep breath in.
Adam: Feel the flow inside you. Focus.
Cassie's bulb lights up then it dims. It is repeating over and over.
Adam: Okay. Breathe. Slow, deep breaths. Look at me.
Cassie is looking into Adam's eyes. The bulb is slowly starting to light up. The bulb shatters.
Cassie: This was a bad idea.
Adam: I'm-- I'm sorry.
Cassie: No. It's my fault. I shouldn't have come.
Cassie leaves.
Sea Fair[edit | edit source]
Cassie is walking with her grandmother, Jane.
Cassie: Oh, uh, there's Sally. Are you gonna be okay without me?
Jane: Of course. Have fun. I'll see you at home.
Sally: Hey.
Cassie: Hi.
Sally: I didn't think you'd come. I figured Faye turned you against me.
Cassie: Faye turned me against Faye.
Sally: Well, we just became friends in this moment.
Cassie: So what do I need to do?
Sally: It's super easy. You just have to sell tickets.
Cassie: Okay. Great. Easy's exactly what I need today.
Faye and Melissa are playing Ring Toss using magic.
Nick: Boo.
Faye: I win.
Melissa: He broke my concentration.
Faye: Okay, I'm bored.
Nick: Let's turn it up a notch. Follow me, ladies.
Diana: Oh. Hey Cassie. How did you get roped into volunteering?
Cassie: I'm here for the distraction.
Diana: Adam told me you guys practiced last night. I'm happy to help some time if you want. The thing is, we need you. We can't be a circle without you.
Cassie: I'm sorry. You're gonna have to find someone else.
Diana: There is no one else. You're one of the 6 families. I thought you understood that.
Cassie: No, I don't understand any of this. What your asking is ludicrous. I can't just blindly agree to it.
Diana: I know it's a lot to accept.
Cassie: It's too much. I can't.
Diana: You're scared.
Cassie: Of course I'm scared. Who wouldn't be? Look, I..... I have a feeling, and then things explode.
Diana: Which is why we need to bind the circle. Our energies are flying everywhere all at once. With no rhyme or reason. We have to contain it before someone gets really hurt.
Cassie: I'm sorry. I don't think that I can help you.
Cassie walks away from Diana.
Nick: Please note that no black cauldron was used in the making of this potion. Open up.
Faye: What's in it?
Nick: All natural herbs and spices. Just boiled down to liquid.
Faye: I taste cinnamon and.... and you got this from Diana's book? Will it work?
Nick shrugs.
Faye: (to melissa) Are you gonna try it?
Melissa: No I'm good. Thanks.
Nick: So what do I tell Diana, huh? She won't stop about the binding ritual crap.
Faye: You tell her to shove that ritual up her hoo-ha.
Faye and Nick laugh.
Nick: Everything's been out of whack since Cassie got here. You know she busted my window, completely shattered it.
Melissa: You know, I think we should listen to Diana. She's the one with the rule book.
Faye: We just need to practice more. More power requires more practice.
Melissa: You started a monsoon and couldn't stop it.
Nick laughs.
Faye: Oh. Could we all just let that go.
